The Naked Truth
"Do It Yourself with Rosie Fingers!"
By Tracey Stevens & Kathy Wunder

Many of us have heard the euphemism, "Rosie Palmer and her five friends." We really don't have a female version for this, so we'll just call it: "Do It Yourself With Rosie Fingers."

Masturbation is the ultimate form of self-help and self-satisfaction. It is definitely taking matters into your own hand, or hands. The plan is for this article to be in two installments. The first giving the benefits of masturbation, and the second will include ways to please yourself. So stay tuned: same dildo time and same dildo channel.

There are so many negative myths tied to masturbation, that we can repeat them without thinking about it. If we touch ourselves THERE we will go blind, loose our hair, get acne, grow hair on our palms, or go crazy. Of course, none of this is true, but when we were kids how many times did you and your friends laugh about people with thick glasses, thinning hair, and scratchy palms? Name your own teenage chuckle, and fit it into the blank spot. We were also told that masturbation would stunt our growth.

Strangely enough, there are so many of us that do please ourselves, that if the myths were true, human beings would be in truly awful shape. We'd be stunted, hairless, acne covered, hairy-palmed, wearing thick glasses, and crazy. We probably wouldn't even be able to walk around with any coordination, and would still be living in trees and hooting at the predators on the plains while practicing self-indulgence to the exclusion of everything else. What an attractive picture that brings to mind.
Our parents are where we get our first direction of a sexual nature concerning what is "good" and what is "bad." Whatever our parents told us, along with the tone of voice they used, their facial expressions and body language, is what formed our earliest impressions about touching ourselves THERE.

So, what is the truth about masturbation? It takes an interweaving of neurotransmitters and hormones to stimulate the brain chemistry and physical reactions that bring about an orgasm. The wonderful side effects of this help us physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

These benefits include: relieving stress, help for insomnia, the release of mood elevating hormones, stimulating the immune system so that it can help improve our health, relaxation of muscles, relief of some of the symptoms of premenstrual issues, and decreasing pain. Some women receive the added benefit of relief of menstrual pain but some do not.

Another big plus is that masturbation is the safest sex practice; no condoms, no dental dams, and you also don't have to share your sex toys if you use them—they are yours to do with what you want. There is absolutely no risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease or infection, as long as you keep your toys clean and to yourself.

To wrap this up, and prove The Rolling Stones got it wrong, we can get satisfaction for ourselves with self-stimulation. One of the biggest benefits of masturbation is that you will become more familiar and understanding of your own sexual needs. Once you understand your own needs, you can then share these insights with your partner, to help her help you become more sexually fulfilled.

Learning the things that turn you on and off, and knowing what your sexual responses are, gives you the ability to tell your partner what you do and don't want. You can experiment with yourself and discover how hard, how light, how deep, and how kinky you may want to be, and see if your partner is willing to go there with you.

Taking matters into your own hands, also known as masturbation, is natural and healthy for any woman and there are many ways to go about it.

Some women prefer to use their own bodies to masturbate. Some use direct stimulation with their fingers and hands, and some can cross their legs, squeezing their muscles or rocking until they have an orgasm. Depending on how discreet you are, you can have an orgasm about anywhere doing this.

Other women use all kinds of things to achieve self-satisfaction, like vibrators and body massagers, dildos, electric tooth brushes, shower massagers, kitchen utensils, ice cubes, and various foods and fruit. Seems almost anything you can think of can be used to stimulate yourself; you just have to be careful doing it. Do not use glass items such as bottles or lightbulbs, because they can break and cause severe injury or even death!

Some women are only into clitoral stimulation, AKA Playing Their Clitars. Others prefer thrusting penetration, and others like to hit their own G-Spots, or engage in anal stimulation. Some women like a combination of all of these things. There really is no right or wrong way to go about self-indulgence, and the very best way is to find out what works best for you.

Many women have never even considered touching themselves, so if you've never let your fingers do the walking, here are some ways to get you started on the path of getting to know yourself:

First off, think about what turns you on. Does reading a sensual novel get your juices flowing? Or are you the visual type who likes to watch a movie with lesbians making hot love?

Many women dream up scenarios; something they've imagined, or a scene they've read or watched causing the body to react to the fantasy. Whatever intensifies your arousal is a good thing to engage in before you decide to experiment with your body for the first time.

You’ll want to feel comfortable and to ensure you have privacy. This is your time for you, so go to a place where you feel totally safe, like the bedroom, or anywhere that feels secure and where you won’t be disturbed by other humans or pets.
Turn off your phone and close your blinds. There’s nothing worse than starting to get in the mood only to be interrupted by a phone solicitor. And you certainly don't want to worry that someone might peer through your window and see you, unless you’re an exhibitionist, and that's a different story altogether.

To feel get comfortable, take a nice bath, put on loose fitting clothes, or snuggle up naked under a soft, warm, blanket. Once you are in your comfort zone, it’s time to reach for your book, turn on your DVD, or start the fantasy.

If you are reading or watching a great sex scene, or if you have a wonderful fantasy playing in your mind, your body will begin to become aroused. There are many ways to experience arousal. Some women feel heat all over the body, some get flushed in the face, neck, and chest. And others feel the heart and respiration rate increasing. Many women feel something more direct, like an enlarged and sensitive clitoris.

Once you feel yourself becoming aroused, start touching your body. Some women enjoy touching themselves everywhere–a type of foreplay that includes lightly caressing places like the neck, thighs and breasts. Others like to skip it and move right on down to the path of pleasure. Whatever turns you on is what you are looking for here.

Many women begin by gently massaging their Mons Pubis, AKA the Mound of Venus, which is the outer part of the vagina that typically is covered with hair, and then slowly move into the vulva area to teasingly stroke the clitoris. Other women just dive on in for direct stimulation to the clitoris and others prefer penetration off the bat.

Some women like to move the entire body with the rhythm of what the hands with the legs closed or open. Still others prefer to become very rigid, tensing all the muscles and clamping the thighs shut. You can lie on your back or stomach, sit up, kneel, or stand. Whatever works for you, but take your time to explore different positions, motions, pressures, and speeds.
The key to a great orgasm is usually consistent stimulation, so once you figure out what your body responds to, keep constant stimulation. Some women take a while to reach orgasm, tiring the arms and hands and making climax even more difficult. If you are in this category, using some kind of a vibrator would help take the pressure off of the hands.

Depending on where and what you want to stimulate, there are many types and styles of vibrators for your pleasure either powered by electricity or batteries. And vibrators come in a variety of pleasing shapes. Some look like penises, bananas or even cats and others are streamlined and smooth like little rockets. Vibrators can be curved to hit the G-spot, and some are shaped like little butterflies to place inside your clothes.

The best toy for multiple clitoral orgasms is a regular hand-held vibrating massager that you can buy at almost any drug store. These electric massagers often come with several attachments for ultimate experimentation. But ensure your outer vulva is as dry as possible when using a an electric massager. If the revolutions per minute are too fast, it can burn you, so remember to use a dry towel to wipe off before placing the vibrator near your delicate parts. If it’s too strong, place a soft cloth between you and the vibrator. And if it’s so powerful that you ejaculate, lucky you, just don’t do it on the vibrator. Remember, it’s an electrical appliance that can short an shock you if you soak it. And by all means, don’t use it in your bathtub or shower.

A hand-held massager with a hollow dildo offers another fun way to play. Find the attachment that best fits inside the dildo and turn it on while it's inside of you. This can produce a very intense orgasm, especially if it’s angled towards the G-spot, or towards the rectum, which also stimulates the clitoris. When using a hand-held vibrator in this way, lubrication is a must. The dildo will absorb most of the RPMs, and there’s less risk of burning yourself than with a regular vibrator. For a mind-blowing double orgasm try using a dildo or internal vibrator along with your fingers.

Another fun way to attain a clitoral orgasm, is with a pulsating shower massage. Make sure the water isn’t too hot, and always point the stream of water across your clitoris away from your vaginal opening. Shower massagers can be very powerful, so NEVER point the stream up into your vagina. It could cause a nasty infection or even injury. Again, do not mix electric toys with water.

Remember to always play safe when using any appliances or sex toys when you surf your southern channel.
